Volkan Demirel Outlines Goals at Bodrum FK
Ahead of the Trendyol Super Lig’s 11th week, Bodrum FK’s Technical Director Volkan Demirel made statements regarding his team’s objectives. Bodrum FK will host Corendon Alanyaspor on Sunday at 16:00. The green-and-white team is currently 13th in the league, having collected 10 points from 10 matches with 3 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw.
“Building Upon What Exists”
Demirel mentioned that he has held two meetings with the players to explain the tactical game plan. He stated, “We have ideas regarding our opponent Alanyaspor. Right now, I am focusing more on what we can do as a team, how we can better reflect that on the field in this short time, and how we can convey our intentions. In addition to showcasing what we want, we will have a strategy against Alanya’s game. Although there is little time until the match, we will do our best to communicate our intentions to win.”
He expressed his familiarity with the players’ dedication and the team’s energy off the pitch, noting, “When I got involved, I felt that the energy was even more unique. There is a family atmosphere at the club. I feel a sense of belonging here. I have experienced happiness and sadness in this city. For the past 20-25 years, I have been a guest here, but now I feel like a child of this place, living with that sense of belonging as a coach. I see myself as an older brother to my players, coming from football.”
Demirel believes that while it may not be immediate, they will achieve significant accomplishments in the long term. He has made efforts to communicate with the players since his arrival, having conducted two meetings, the first of which was focused on introductions, and the second aimed at explaining his tactical plans.
“This won’t happen overnight. There is an established order, and we are not trying to demolish it and build something new. If we do, we may encounter different gaps and mistakes. We will try to build upon what exists without breaking it down. Over time, we will elevate this further. There is a foundational team, and we will work to raise those layers upon that solid foundation.”
Demirel also mentioned his impressions of the stadium atmosphere and invited all Bodrum football fans to support the team. “We welcome all Bodrum fans to our stadium. Whether we win or lose, football has three possibilities, and one will happen, but we will be very happy if we win. We will take it one match at a time, with our goal being to win the next match. I encourage those who want to see what we are doing on the field to come to our match and support us,” he added.
