TRABZONSPOR’S RESPONSE TO BESIKTAS ABOUT SENOL GUNES: “HE WAS ALWAYS OURS”
Trabzonspor Vice President Taner Saral harshly responded to Beşiktaş Vice President Mete Vardar’s comments about head coach Şenol Güneş ahead of the upcoming Trabzonspor-Beşiktaş match. Saral said, “Şenol Güneş was always ours, and he will remain ours forever.”
Taner Saral made statements regarding coach Şenol Güneş and recent remarks. He emphasized, “First of all, I would like to underline that our head coach Şenol Güneş holds a special place in Trabzonspor’s history and is an important figure who made great contributions to the club’s successes. Both during his playing and coaching careers, he was instrumental in Trabzonspor’s championships. With his leadership qualities, football intelligence, and disciplined approach, he has been a role model both on and off the field.”
“We Understand Vardar’s Fear”
“Morality is important in football, and we all know how executives should behave in this field,” Saral continued. “When club officials resort to populist rhetoric and clownish behavior, they stray from seriousness, which harms the club’s image. Beşiktaş Vice President Mete Vardar’s comments on a social media platform are a reflection of this ‘clownish behavior’ we mentioned. We can never accept clownishness being displayed over the name of Trabzonspor legend Şenol Güneş. We understand Vardar’s inability to accept that Güneş, who led Beşiktaş to championships during his time as their coach, has reunited with his home and team. However, this reaction was unnecessary.”
“He Can’t Say This to Our Faces”
Saral further added, “Football is a game played on the field. It’s telling that someone in such a high position behaves unethically and without moral values off the field. My advice to this individual is to refrain from making statements on social media that he wouldn’t dare say to our faces. While some people continue to behave like social media trolls, we will keep representing the truth and reflecting the positive values of sports, working towards a healthier and more respected football community. Lastly, Şenol Güneş was always ours, and he will remain ours forever.”

Beşiktaş Vice President Mete Vardar had commented on the Trabzonspor match, saying, “I’m very sure that Coach Şenol has heartfelt love and respect for Beşiktaş.
