TSUNODA MAY TEST WITH RED BULL AT THE END OF THE SEASON

Red Bull has hinted that Yuki Tsunoda may participate in his first test with the team after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

So far, Tsunoda has only tested and raced for AlphaTauri/RB, with his runs in a Red Bull car limited to demo events. However, Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko suggested that the team might provide him with this first opportunity at the end of the season.

During the Austin weekend, there were reports that the Japanese manufacturer Honda was exerting significant pressure for Tsunoda to get a test with Red Bull. When Autosport asked Marko if Red Bull would conduct a test with Tsunoda, he replied, “Yes, we have some plans for Abu Dhabi.”

“You know we have quite a variety of drivers: Isack Hadjar, Liam Lawson…”

While it’s not entirely clear what Marko meant, the most likely scenario is that Tsunoda will drive the Red Bull RB20 during the post-season tire test. This test is scheduled for the Tuesday following the season finale, and teams are required to use two cars in this test.

One of the cars must be driven by a driver holding an official F1 super license and designated for tire testing, while the other car can be driven by young drivers who have participated in no more than two races in their careers.
