Txiki Begiristain to Step Down as Manchester City Director of Football in 2025

Long-serving Manchester City football director Txiki Begiristain is scheduled to depart his post at the end of the 2024–25 season. Originally intending to cut his responsibilities five years ago, the 60-year-old, who has been instrumental in City’s success, decided to stay with the club instead.

The Athletic claims that Begiristain has lately chosen to back off and has the approval of the club’s management. His leaving coincides with already conjecture about the future of manager Pep Guardiola, whose present contract expires in 2025.

The champions of the Premier League have apparently secured a deal with Begiristain’s replacement, who will take up the Director of Football post in early 2025. Begiristain will spend six months with the club helping to ensure a seamless succession of his responsibilities.
