Tyreek Hill “Shell-Shocked” After Being Detained by Police Ahead of NFL Game
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has shared that he is still reeling after being detained by police on Sunday while driving to Hard Rock Stadium for the first NFL game of the season. In an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Hill expressed shock over the incident, which was captured on police body camera footage.
The video shows officers pulling Hill from his car and forcing him to the ground after stopping him for a moving violation. Hill, still processing the event, said, “I was shocked. It was crazy because it all happened so fast. I really couldn’t gather everything that was happening.”
Hill, who plays a physical sport and deals with injuries, explained that his slow movements may have been misinterpreted by the officers. “I wasn’t moving fast because I got injuries… I guess the officers felt like I wasn’t doing it on their timing,” Hill added. “I’m still kind of shell-shocked from it. I’m embarrassed.”
The South Florida Police Benevolent Association defended the officers’ actions on Monday, stating that Hill was never arrested and suggesting that his lack of cooperation prompted the officers’ response. The association emphasized that the officers acted in the interest of their own safety.
