UEFA Conference League Season Kicks Off with Basaksehir
The new season of the UEFA Conference League begins tomorrow with two matches. Representing Turkey, Basaksehir will host Rapid Wien at 17:30.
The opening day of the UEFA Conference League will feature RAMS Basaksehir facing Austrian team Rapid Wien at home. In the other match, Portuguese team Vitoria will take on Slovenian team Celje.
On Thursday, 16 matches will be played in the Conference League.
New Format Introduced
The UEFA Conference League is being held for the first time with a league format involving 36 teams, rather than the traditional group format.
In the Conference League, each team will compete against 6 opponents, with 3 matches at home and 3 away. The top 8 teams will advance directly to the last 16 round, while teams ranked 9th to 24th will compete in the playoff round for a chance to qualify for the last 16. From the playoff round onwards, a two-leg elimination system will be used.
The final of the tournament will take place on May 28, 2025, at a stadium in Wroclaw, Poland.
