Uncertainty in Besiktas’ Goalkeeping Ahead of Lyon and Galatasaray Matches

Mert Gunok, who was injured during the Konyaspor match, will not be available for the Europa League match against Lyon as well as the derby against Galatasaray.
It was determined that Mert has a tendon injury in the upper muscle group of his left shoulder (supraspinatus), and Ersin Destanoglu, who was injured in the E.Frankfurt match, is also not fully fit. As a result, either 19-year-old Goktug or 18-year-old Emir will be in goal in France.
At Besiktas, the situation of goalkeeper Mert Gunok, who remained on the field for the full 90 minutes against Konyaspor despite the shoulder issue, has dampened morale. In a statement from the club, it was said, “After the trauma Mert Gunok experienced in his left shoulder during the Konyaspor match, a tendon injury in the upper muscle group of the left shoulder (supraspinatus) was identified,” and it was learned that the experienced goalkeeper will miss both the UEFA Europa League match against Lyon on Thursday and the Galatasaray derby on Monday.

NO MATCHES WITH THE FIRST TEAM
In addition, Ersin Destanoglu, who was injured in the E.Frankfurt match and diagnosed with a strain and partial tear in the upper back muscle of his left thigh, will also not be available as he is not fully ready. As a result, Besiktas’ goalkeeping duties for the Lyon match will fall to either 19-year-old Goktug Baytekin or 18-year-old Emir Yasar, neither of whom have yet played a match with the first team.
