Verstappen: “Momentum Should Be Maintained After the Results”

Max Verstappen stated that it is very important for himself and Red Bull to “maintain this momentum” following the successful United States Grand Prix. Although Verstappen did not win the race, he increased his advantage in the drivers’ championship and dealt a significant blow to Lando Norris’s championship aspirations.

The Dutch driver hopes to sustain his success but emphasizes that Red Bull needs to “solve the issues” following the updates. Key personnel at Red Bull, including Christian Horner, had pinned their hopes on the updates from the United States Grand Prix. As a result, Verstappen won the sprint race, achieving his first victory since June and managing to overtake Norris for the first time since the summer break.

Verstappen remarked, “We made some good steps in Austin, and we need to carry this momentum forward.” He added, “Mexico is a great race, and of course, it’s Checo’s home race, so there’s always an incredible atmosphere. The track is at a very high altitude, so you have to get used to that a bit more, but we’ve done well here in the past, and I’ve always enjoyed driving on this circuit.”

He continued, “We made some good strides in Austin, and we saw promising developments in the car, but they weren’t enough for the race. The team is working hard to address these issues, but in the end, it was a step in the right direction, and winning the sprint was a morale boost for the team.”

According to Verstappen, the key now is to maintain all of this. The Dutch driver stated, “We’re going into the second of three consecutive race weekends, so maintaining this momentum and continuing to earn important points in the championship will be critical.”
