Wenyen Gabriel Suffers Knee Injury in Friendly Against Panathinaikos

Wenyen Gabriel was forced to leave the court early after suffering a knee injury during Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s friendly match against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter, and Gabriel will undergo further tests to assess the severity of the blow.

In his 15 minutes on the court, Gabriel contributed 7 points and 2 rebounds but was called for 5 personal fouls. Despite Gabriel’s early exit, Maccabi secured an 83-71 victory in the behind-closed-doors game, marking their second consecutive win over Panathinaikos this week.

Roman Sorkin was Maccabi’s standout performer with 11 points and 6 rebounds. On the Panathinaikos side, Cedi Osman and Kendrick Nunn led with 13 points each, while Konstantinos Mitoglou added 12.

Both teams will now turn their attention to the annual Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament, with Maccabi set to face Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Panathinaikos taking on Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade on September 21st at the historic Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro.
