Why Raheem Sterling Will Miss Arsenal’s Clash Against Chelsea?

Due to league rules, Raheem Sterling will not play for Arsenal against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Many were taken aback by Sterling’s surprising signing to Arsenal at the close of the summer transfer season. By paying Chelsea no loan fee and less than half of Sterling’s huge £325,000 weekly salary, Arsenal was able to sign the forward on a special loan agreement. The majority of his pay is still paid to Chelsea under this agreement.

The Premier League forbids loaned players from playing against their original club, therefore even though Sterling joined Arsenal, he is not allowed to play in this match. This regulation guarantees Sterling’s absence from Arsenal’s match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Impact of Sterling Thus Far

Sterling’s contribution to Arsenal has been little since his arrival. With just four Premier League outings under his belt, the 29-year-old has played 123 minutes. Despite starting in the Carabao Cup and scoring two goals against Bolton Wanderers of League One, he hasn’t had much of an impact overall as he attempts to go back to his previous level of play.
