Williams Aims for the Top After Sainz Transfer
James Vowles has stated that Carlos Sainz’s arrival to the team for the 2025 season marks a significant step towards Williams’ return to the top.
Williams has taken a major step forward by signing Carlos Sainz, who is leaving Ferrari, for the 2025 season.
Team principal James Vowles described Sainz’s addition as a “turning point” for the team’s future, announcing that Williams is aiming to be a top contender again by 2028.
Vowles said: “I was over the moon when the contract was signed, and Carlos knew it. Moments like this don’t happen often in your career.”
“This is a pivotal decision that can completely change the direction of an organization.”
“It’s just one of a thousand steps we need to take for success. When I meet someone who says Williams is a strong team again, then I’ll celebrate. Carlos is a massive talent, an excellent driver, but this is just one of the steps we are taking to get back to the top.”
