Enzo Zidane, the eldest son of football legend Zinedine Zidane, has retired from professional football at the age of 29. After a career that saw him follow in his father’s footsteps by playing for prestigious clubs like Juventus and Real Madrid’s youth teams, Enzo has decided to step away from the sport.

A Career of High Hopes and Hard Realities

Enzo made his senior professional debut for Real Madrid in 2016 but struggled to secure a long-term place at top-level European clubs. Over the years, he played for various teams, including Aves and Almeria, before joining Spanish third-tier side Fuenlabrada in 2023 on a one-year deal. During the 2023/24 season, Enzo featured in 29 matches across all competitions, but by the end of the campaign, he decided to call time on his playing career.

Enzo had long aspired to replicate the success of his father, Zinedine Zidane, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history. However, as his career progressed, Enzo came to realize that his trajectory wasn’t meeting his expectations. By September 2024, he officially decided to step away from football, a decision fully supported by his family.
