38-Year-Old Marco Belinelli: “I’m Afraid of Retiring from Basketball”
Virtus Bologna’s experienced star Marco Belinelli spoke about the possibility of retirement.
Ahead of Virtus Bologna’s EuroLeague opening game against Anadolu Efes tomorrow evening (October 4), the 38-year-old veteran scorer shared his thoughts with Vogue Italia. In his statements, Belinelli also touched upon the idea of retirement.
Belinelli admitted that he is afraid of the day he’ll have to leave basketball:
“To be honest, I’m afraid of retiring from basketball. I hope that day never comes because I don’t know what I’ll do after that. Frankly, looking at my old photos makes me feel sad. Those pictures remind me that the time for retirement is approaching. When I look at them, I think about how I can’t jump as I used to, and it makes me feel melancholic.”
Turning 39 in March 2025, Marco Belinelli is currently playing his 23rd professional season.
