Ancelotti Trusts Modric Against Atletico Madrid in Mbappe’s Absence

Carlo Ancelotti aims to develop a new strategy by fielding Luka Modric in the Atletico Madrid derby. Real Madrid’s star Kylian Mbappe will be sidelined for three weeks after sustaining an injury against Alaves. Mbappe’s absence has forced Ancelotti to rethink his game plan for the upcoming Atletico Madrid match. Initially considered a precaution, Mbappe’s thigh injury has been confirmed as more serious.

Modric to Replace Mbappe

In Mbappe’s absence, Luka Modric is expected to take the field against Atletico Madrid. According to The Athletic, Ancelotti plans to use the 38-year-old Modric in a four-man midfield, meaning Real Madrid will likely adopt a 4-4-2 formation. Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior are expected to lead the attack.

Plan B: Endrick or Arda Güler

In previous encounters, the midfield duo of Toni Kroos and Modric struggled against Atletico Madrid. However, Ancelotti is hopeful for a different outcome this time. Despite his age, Real Madrid believes Modric is physically capable of playing the full 90 minutes. If Ancelotti’s tactics don’t yield the desired results, he may switch to a 4-3-3 formation with young talent Endrick or consider Arda Güler as an alternative in midfield.

Real Madrid will be looking to secure a win against Atletico with a different formation, and Modric’s performance will play a crucial role.
