Barcelona Set New Target for Camp Nou Return Amid Stadium Redevelopment Delays

Barcelona has announced a revised timeline for their return to Camp Nou following additional delays to the stadium’s restoration project. Initially, the club planned to partially reopen the historic stadium on November 29, 2024, to coincide with Barcelona’s 125th anniversary. However, due to building delays, the team intends to return to their home field in the second half of the 2024/25 season.

The restoration of Camp Nou, which began in June 2022, is part of a vast remodeling project aimed at making the stadium the largest in European football, with a capacity of 105,000. The renovated stadium will include cutting-edge facilities that will improve fans’ matchday experiences even further.

Revised Timeline

Barcelona recognized the delays and declared that the stadium will not be ready for fans until later in the 2024/25 season. This is a setback for the club, which had planned to commemorate its anniversary with a major celebration at the partially reopened stadium. Barcelona will play home games in their temporary stadium, Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, for an extended period due to the delay.

Despite the setback, the club is still enthusiastic about finishing the redevelopment and eventually producing a world-class arena for both the team and its fans.
