Cliftonville Dominate Larne to Keep Perfect Record Intact

Cliftonville showed no signs of slowing down in their pursuit of the Women’s Premiership title, securing a commanding 6-0 victory over Larne at Inver Park. The Reds’ dominant performance saw them maintain their flawless league record, moving them six points clear at the top of the table.

The match got off to a flying start with Kirsty McGuinness opening the scoring in the seventh minute. Just three minutes later, Carla Devine pounced from close range to double Cliftonville’s lead, putting Larne on the back foot early in the contest.

Late Flurry Seals the Deal

After a comfortable 2-0 lead going into halftime, Louise McDaniel added a third goal shortly after the restart. The floodgates then opened in the final ten minutes, with Caitlin McGuinness scoring in the 81st minute, followed by captain Kelsie Burrows heading in the fifth. Northern Ireland international Marissa Callaghan capped off the scoring with a stunning long-range effort in injury time.

Title Showdown on the Horizon

With this victory, Cliftonville now sit six points clear of reigning champions Glentoran, who have a game in hand. The two sides are set to clash in what could be a decisive penultimate match of the season on Sunday, 6 October. Cliftonville remain unbeaten in their 13 league matches, while Glentoran’s only loss came at the hands of their title rivals earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, Larne’s struggles continue as they remain in eighth place after this latest defeat, unable to gain any momentum against the league leaders.
