Moeen Ali Retires from International Cricket After Illustrious Career

England All-Rounder Moeen Ali Retires from International Cricket

England all-rounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket, stating that “the time is right” to step away. Moeen, who made his international debut in 2014, played in all three formats for England during his career.

The 37-year-old was a key figure in England’s white-ball success, helping the team win the 50-over World Cup on home soil in 2019 and the T20 World Cup in 2022. Moeen initially retired from Test cricket in 2021 but returned two years later for the home Ashes series against Australia, which ended in a draw.

An off-spinner and versatile player, Moeen played 68 Tests, 138 one-day internationals, and 92 Twenty20 matches for England. He also served as vice-captain of the white-ball team and led England in one ODI and 12 T20s.
