Naoya Inoue to Defend Super Bantamweight Title Against Sam Goodman on Christmas Eve

In Tokyo on December 24 Naoya Inoue is scheduled to defend his 122 lb undisputed super bantamweight championship against Sam Goodman.

The Japanese boxing star Inoue (28-0, 25 KO) will be competing for the third time in 2024, hence this year will be most busy since 2017. On Sept. 3 he effectively defended his championship against TJ Doheny; on May 6 he had earlier knocked out Luis Nery. Christmas Eve morning in the United States will see the match versus Goodman.

Australia’s Sam Goodman (19-0, 8 KO) is the IBF mandatory challenger and has not fought outside of Australia previously. Goodman Steps Up for His Biggest Fight Yet The 25-year-old will have a difficult challenge in Inoue; he will be much favored to keep his title. Early in 2023, Goodman’s most famous victories occurred in March and July respectively when he defeated TJ Doheny and Ra’eese Aleem respectively.

With Inoue seeking to maintain his supremacy and Goodman hoping to establish himself on the international scene, this match-up sets the setup for an interesting Christmas confrontation.
