Okan Buruk’s Victor Osimhen Admission: “We Had a Video Call, and He Was Convinced”

The reverberations of Galatasaray’s high-profile signing of Victor Osimhen continue to echo throughout the football world. Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, has made a statement regarding the historic transfer.

“I HAD A VIDEO CALL WITH OSIMHEN, AND HE WAS CONVINCED”

According to Milliyet, Buruk confirmed receiving a call from Osimhen’s agent, George Gardi. “I have my own style. I like to have video calls with players… I spoke with Osimhen, and he was convinced. He found the idea of coming to Galatasaray very exciting. I already had the idea of switching to a two-striker system in mind. This was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up,” said Buruk. With this transfer, the Galatasaray coach now has quality options in the forward position, making his job easier.

Regarding Kerem Aktürkoğlu’s move to Benfica, Buruk commented, “It was a surprise for me. I didn’t really want him to go, but Kerem said, ‘This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me, and I want to take it.’ When a player sets their mind on leaving, you can’t stop them. Otherwise, his mind might always be elsewhere. I wished Kerem success and let him go.” Buruk, who is currently in Italy, will personally oversee the ongoing transfers.
