Overview of Europe’s Top 5 Leagues

Matches continued over the weekend in Europe’s top five football leagues: Germany (Bundesliga), France (Ligue 1), England (Premier League), Spain (La Liga), and Italy (Serie A).

In England, Liverpool, in Spain, Barcelona, in Germany, Bayern Munich, in Italy, Napoli, and in France, PSG topped the points table.

Liverpool Maintains Its Lead

In the Premier League, Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-1 at home. Under the management of coach Arne Slot, Liverpool had a strong start to the season, securing their 7th win in the first 8 matches. Defending champion Manchester City continued their pursuit of the top by winning 2-1 away against Wolverhampton. Arsenal, who entered this week undefeated, lost 2-0 to Bournemouth, thus losing their unbeaten status. National player Ferdi Kadioglu played the entire match as Brighton defeated Newcastle United 1-0 away. After the 8th week of the Premier League, Liverpool maintained its lead with 21 points, followed by Manchester City with 20 points and Arsenal with 17 points.

Barcelona Keeps Winning

In La Liga, leaders Barcelona defeated Sevilla 5-1, with Robert Lewandowski and Pablo Torre each scoring twice. Unbeaten Real Madrid won 2-1 away against Celta Vigo, with national player Arda Guler not participating in the match. Atletico Madrid defeated Leganes 3-1 at home. National player Bertug Yildirim started for Getafe in the match against Villarreal, which ended in a 1-1 draw, and was substituted in the 90+3 minute. After 10 weeks in La Liga, Barcelona remained at the top with 27 points, followed by Real Madrid with 24 and Atletico Madrid with 20 points.

Bayern Munich at the Top on Goal Difference

In the Bundesliga, leaders Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 4-0, with striker Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick. Leipzig, competing for the top, won 2-0 against Mainz away. Borussia Dortmund, managed by Nuri Sahin, beat St. Pauli 2-1 at home, collecting 13 points in pursuit of the leaders. After 7 weeks, Bayern Munich led the table with 17 points on goal difference ahead of Leipzig. Freiburg followed with 15 points.

Napoli Maintains Leadership

In Serie A, Napoli won 1-0 away against Empoli, maintaining their top spot thanks to a goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. In a match featuring two national players, Inter defeated Roma 1-0 away, where Hakan Calhanoglu was injured in the 12th minute and left the game. Zeki Celik played the entire match for Roma. Juventus, one of the title challengers, won 1-0 against Lazio at home, with national player Kenan Yildiz staying on the field for the entire match. After 8 weeks, Napoli led the league with 19 points, followed by Inter with 17 points and Juventus with 16 points.

PSG Takes the Lead

In Ligue 1’s 8th week, PSG rose to the top after defeating Strasbourg 4-2 at home. Monaco, who started the week in first place, drew 0-0 with Lille at home. Title challengers Olympique Marseille beat Montpellier 5-0 away. PSG sits at the top of the league with 20 points, while Monaco is second on goal difference, also with 20 points. Marseille has collected 17 points, continuing their pursuit of the top.
