Felipe Melo Announces Retirement Date: One Last Goal
Felipe Melo, currently playing for Fluminense and a former star at Galatasaray, has announced that he will retire at the end of 2025. The 41-year-old midfielder’s final goal is to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Melo, who became a fan favorite during his time at Galatasaray, revealed his plans in a recent statement. He expressed his desire to renew his contract with Fluminense in hopes of playing in the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States next summer.
Galatasaray Career
During his time at Galatasaray, Melo played in 154 matches, contributing 18 goals and 12 assists. This season, he has appeared in 23 matches for Fluminense, totaling 1,174 minutes on the field but without scoring or assisting.
