Ertugrul Dogan announced the amount paid to exit the Banking Union

Trabzonspor has become the first Süper Lig team to exit the Banking Union. Trabzonspor President Ertugrul Dogan made statements regarding this issue.

Trabzonspor has officially exited the Banking Union, becoming the first Super Lig team to achieve this.

In an interview with A Spor, Ertugrul Dogan shared details about the process.

How much did Trabzonspor pay to exit the Banking Union?
Ertugrul Dogan stated that they made a payment of 2.1 billion Turkish Lira to exit the Banking Union agreement.
“When we first came in, our first promise to our fans was related to stadium sponsorship. We secured the largest stadium sponsorship in Turkish football history, generating a total income of 50 million euros. Our second promise was to make the debt manageable, and I take pride in fulfilling that promise to our community. As of today, we have paid approximately 2.1 billion, including interest, towards the Banking Union agreement. This was a significant step for our community. We have been working towards exiting the Banking Union since we arrived. The realities of Trabzonspor are clear. We have earned nearly 50 million euros in sponsorships. I take pride in fulfilling our promise to our community. In a 1.5-year period, we paid 2.1 billion TL, including interest, towards the Banking Union agreement. If we hadn’t made these payments, we would have faced a dire situation with a heavy interest burden.”

Next up is tax debt
“Our biggest problem right now seems to be tax debt. Over the past 25 years, many tax agreements have been made. The conditions are tough, and income is nearly non-existent. Because these agreements have not been adhered to, there is nearly 2 billion in tax debt. We are making the necessary plans for this debt.”

Will Trabzonspor be sold?
Trabzonspor President Ertugrul Dogan stated that they have signed important sponsorship agreements. He mentioned receiving an official application for sponsorship and collaboration from a significant entity, and he clarified that Trabzonspor will not be sold.
“Since the day we arrived, we have made significant moves. We have seriously improved our balance sheet and made significant strides in our income and expense table. There is interest from foreign investors regarding Trabzonspor. However, we should not speak without clarification; a significant investment group has officially applied to partner and collaborate with Trabzonspor. Some people misunderstand this and ask if Trabzonspor is being sold. This interest is important and has significant value. Personally, I want to emphasize that Trabzonspor is the biggest city team in the world. Trabzonspor is the team of the fans. I strongly oppose its sale. However, this is not a decision I can make alone. In our country, it is not legally possible to sell a large stake. The final word belongs to the congress. As president, I will stand against this, but as I said, the final decision rests with the congress.”
