Guardiola Frustrated by Nationality Question: “Look at Israel, Gaza”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his frustration during a press conference ahead of their Premier League clash against Wolves. The Catalan coach was angered by a question regarding the nationality of national team coaches, with an example of the recent appointment of Thomas Tuchel as England’s national team manager.

When asked about the belief in England that the national team coach should be English, Guardiola, visibly irritated, responded by highlighting broader global issues such as the conflicts in Israel, Gaza, and other parts of the world.

Guardiola stated, “Thomas Tuchel is a very good coach. I wish him success with the England national team. There are things we don’t choose, like where we are born. I didn’t choose to be Catalan, and you didn’t choose to be English. I understand that people want their national team to be coached by one of their own, but we’ve seen English coaches fail too. The FA chose to bring in a world-renowned manager from outside the UK. I’ve learned so much from people all over the world—from Germany, Mexico, and other places.”

He continued, “Look at what’s happening in Russia, Israel, Gaza, Ukraine, and Africa. The world is big, and we need to be open-minded. We should work to make people better.”
