Austin FC Part Ways with Head Coach Josh Wolff

Following a loss to LA Galaxy that formally dashed Austin FC’s MLS playoff prospects, they have split ways with Josh Wolff, the first manager in club history. The team revealed Wolff’s departure on Sunday.

Austin failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second straight season, hence the choice results from an expansion of available slots in 2023 not allowing Austin to qualify. While the team starts its hunt for a permanent successor, an interim coach will oversee the last game of the season.

Falling Form Since 2022

Austin FC’s woes have been clear this season; their play has slumped drastically after making the Western Conference final in 2022, when they lost to LAFC. With one game left, the squad is in tenth position after finishing twelve in the West previous season. Reflecting the growing strain on the head coach, Los Verdes, a well-known Supporter’s Group, had previously demanded Wolff’s departure in a social media post last week.
