Colapinto: “I’m Trying to Build Speed and Gain Confidence”
Williams driver Franco Colapinto mentioned that he is trying to get used to the Baku circuit and the Williams car. The rookie driver finished Friday’s second practice session in 14th place.
The Argentine driver caused red flags in the first practice session after crashing into the barriers at Turn 4 but reported a positive second session.
“It was a positive day.”
“Honestly, I think the real heroes of the day were the mechanics who did an incredible job bringing the car back for the second session.”
“They didn’t have lunch, worked all day, so I’m very grateful to them. They made it possible for me to gain more experience on track and complete the second practice session.”
“I think we had a very positive session. I lightly touched the walls today, but I’m starting to get used to it. It’s a difficult track, so I’m still trying to build speed and gain confidence.”
“The confidence you need on a street circuit comes slowly, and when you touch the wall, it quickly disappears. So you have to take things slow again.”
