Guerschon Yabusele believes that the dunk he had over LeBron James during the Olympics played a significant role in his signing with the Philadelphia 76ers.

In the final of the Olympics, France lost to the USA, but the most memorable moment of the match was Yabusele’s dunk over LeBron in the first half.

A few days after this game, Yabusele signed a new contract with the NBA team Philadelphia 76ers.

During the Sixers’ media day, Yabusele reflected on the moment, saying, “I’m a very humble person. It was truly an incredible position. When I saw LeBron in front of me, I thought either I’m going to dunk it or he’s going to block me. I had no other option, so I didn’t think too much about it. Despite the contact, finishing the play had a positive effect on our team.”

He further discussed the aftermath of the dunk, stating, “From what I understand, everyone is talking about that dunk. I’m going to hang the poster of that moment on my wall at home. That dunk took me to the NBA, and I’m convinced of that. How I played in the tournament is important, but that dunk made people see me differently. During the five years I was away from the NBA, they recognized how hard I worked. When I walk down the street in Philadelphia, people point at me and say, ‘That’s the guy who dunked on LeBron.’”

In the Paris Olympics, Yabusele averaged 14 points and a performance index rating of 12.3. He had previously played 74 games in the NBA with the Boston Celtics from 2017 to 2019.
