Poland’s Magdalena Frech Wins First WTA Title at Guadalajara WTA 500 Event
Poland’s Magdalena Frech secured the first WTA title of her career at the WTA 500 event in Guadalajara, marking a significant milestone in her tennis journey. The 26-year-old defeated Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the final, becoming the fourth Polish woman to win a tour-level title this century, following Agnieszka Radwanska, Magda Linette, and Iga Swiatek.
Frech, the No. 5 seed in Guadalajara, had a stellar week, with her biggest victory coming in the semifinals, where she upset No. 4 seed Caroline Garcia in a hard-fought 7-6 (4), 7-5 win. Her final opponent, Gadecki, ranked No. 152, also had an impressive run, defeating No. 2 seed Danielle Collins and former US Open champion Sloane Stephens on her way to the title match.
