Mauricio Pochettino Announces USMNT Staff, Including His Son, Ahead of Panama and Mexico Friendlies

New U.S. men’s national team coach Mauricio Pochettino has unveiled a five-person backroom staff to support him as he takes charge of the team for the first time. The announcement includes several key figures who have worked with Pochettino throughout his managerial career, including his son, Sebastiano Pochettino.

The Staff

  • Jesus Perez: Serving as primary assistant coach, Perez has been by Pochettino’s side since his early managerial days at Espanyol. The Spaniard transitioned from a fitness instructor to assistant coach during stops at Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, PSG, and Chelsea.
  • Miguel “Miki” D’Agostino: Another assistant, D’Agostino has a long-standing relationship with Pochettino, having been his teammate at Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina before joining him on the coaching staff at Espanyol.
  • Antonio “Toni” Jimenez: Appointed as goalkeeping coach, Jimenez had a lengthy career as a professional goalkeeper in Spain. He has worked with Pochettino since 2011, starting at Espanyol.
  • Sebastiano Pochettino: Mauricio’s son joins as a sports scientist. He has worked with his father since Tottenham in 2016 and was one of the youngest sports scientists in the Premier League at that time.
  • Silvia Tuya Vinas: The final member of the staff, Tuya joins from Levante Badalona in Spain’s top women’s league, adding valuable expertise to the team.

The new coaching staff will make their debut as the USMNT prepares for friendly matches against Panama and Mexico, with Pochettino hoping to integrate his philosophy with the national team.
