Reconciliation Between Fatih Terim and Unal Aysal at Galatasaray

Fatih Terim and Ünal Aysal, who have been distant since Terim’s controversial departure from the yellow-reds in 2013, reconciled in Athens. The former Galatasaray president, Ünal Aysal, and Terim met at a restaurant in Athens, where they spoke and broke the ice. In a statement to Hürriyet, Aysal said, “We have never had any hostile words about each other. Whenever we met, we greeted each other politely. There are no grudges in Galatasaray.”

During the 2013-14 season at Galatasaray, Fatih Terim’s relationship with Ünal Aysal, who was the president when Terim’s contract was terminated, had been cold for years. The two reconciled in Athens. In his exclusive statement to Hürriyet, Aysal said: THERE WAS ALWAYS RESPECT “In the heat of the championship race at that time, this issue was perceived quite differently. However, afterward, neither did I say anything personal or hostile about Fatih Hoca, nor did he about me. Every time we met at a Galatasaray event, we greeted each other with mutual politeness and respect. Most recently, we encountered each other at a restaurant abroad, where we had a conversation and broke the ice. There are no grudges or resentments in Galatasaray.”

The tension during that period, which started with Ünal Aysal referring to Fatih Terim as a “successful employee,” escalated when Terim expressed his desire to coach both Galatasaray and the Turkish national team, ultimately leading to the termination of Terim’s contract.
