“We Will Continue to Write Success Stories”

Galatasaray Club President Dursun Ozbek spoke at the event celebrating Galatasaray’s 119th anniversary. The 119th anniversary of Galatasaray Club was commemorated with a ceremony.

As part of the celebration activities, Galatasaray Club President Dursun Ozbek and club members first visited the grave of the club’s founding president, Ali Sami Yen, at Ferikoy Cemetery. The yellow-red delegation then proceeded to Galatasaray High School.

In his opening speech, President Dursun Ozbek stated, “We are celebrating Galatasaray’s 119th anniversary. I remember Ali Sami Yen and his friends, who founded this club over a century ago with the goal of ‘defeating non-Turkish teams,’ with love, respect, and mercy. We will continue to work to advance this goal and to leave Galatasaray in the best possible condition for our successors.”

Ozbek emphasized that Galatasaray will continue to write success stories that everyone can be proud of, saying: “Galatasaray, with its glorious history and free-spirited stance, is the pride of this country. Regardless of the challenges we face in any branch, we will continue to write success stories that everyone can take pride in. With each victory, we will grow and strengthen even more. We will always stand by our young athletes who grow with the values of Galatasaray. We will maintain our identity as a nurturing club. Galatasaray will continue to be the pride of Turkey. Here’s to many more years, long live Galatasaray!”

Following Dursun Ozbek’s speech, the oldest member, Vedat Akan, placed the 119th-anniversary plaque on the membership tree. The ceremony continued with the awarding of certificates and medals to those who have completed 50 years of club membership and concluded with the presentation of trophies won in all branches during the 2023-2024 season to the museum.
