Resignation Following Threats at Roma

Roma CEO Lina Souloukou has resigned amid growing backlash following the unexpected dismissal of club icon Daniele De Rossi.

Roma, struggling in Serie A, announced Souloukou’s resignation as a response to the significant reactions from fans after De Rossi’s removal.

Souloukou faced intense criticism and threats from fans after De Rossi’s departure, prompting her to take security precautions.

Juric’s Appointment Dissatisfies Fans

De Rossi’s unexpected exit caused considerable disappointment among supporters, while the club decided to continue with Ivan Juric as head coach. However, Juric’s appointment was not seen as adequate to fill De Rossi’s shoes, leading to further backlash from fans.

Souloukou previously served as CEO at Olympiacos and had been in her role at Roma for over a year. Following Juric’s appointment, Roma fans protested for the first 30 minutes at Stadio Olimpico, leaving the stands empty.

This situation unfolded during a period when the team was sitting in 17th place and had made a poor start to the season.
