Erik ten Hag Faces Thomas Tuchel Shock at Manchester United

As pressure mounts on Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, it has been suggested that Thomas Tuchel could completely transform the current squad if he took over. The Red Devils have been considering their managerial options after a disappointing season.

Manchester United Approached Tuchel in the Summer

During the summer, Manchester United held talks with German coach Thomas Tuchel. Despite the Red Devils’ interest, Tuchel rejected their offer. The club was informed that Tuchel could be the “solution” to Erik ten Hag’s problems. Despite winning the FA Cup, United finished a disappointing eighth in the Premier League, leading to discussions about sacking Ten Hag and considering Tuchel, the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss.

Surprise Suggestion from William Gallas

However, Tuchel turned down their offer, and Manchester United decided to extend Erik ten Hag’s contract. Yet, with a poor start to the season, Ten Hag is under pressure again. Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas has suggested that the club’s leaders should make another attempt to convince Tuchel.

What Did Gallas Say?

Speaking to Gambling Zone, William Gallas stated: “Thomas Tuchel could be the solution to Manchester United’s problems. If he comes to the club and is given time, say two years to build his team, the club would be in a completely different position from where it is now. At Chelsea, Tuchel was very organized; players respected him, and he won the Champions League and several other trophies. You can see why he was successful, and maybe he wasn’t given enough time to turn things around at Chelsea.”

Manchester United Looking for a Breakthrough

After losing to Brighton and then Liverpool, Manchester United has only three points from their first three Premier League matches of the 2024-25 season. Erik ten Hag hopes to relieve some of the pressure on him by securing a win against Southampton, who are currently on zero points, on September 14th.
