Fenerbahce Beko Opens EuroLeague Season with Victory Over Olympiakos

In the opening week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Fenerbahçe Beko secured a solid 82-71 win against Olympiakos on home court, starting the season on a positive note.

Fenerbahçe took an early lead in the game, with Boban Marjanovic scoring several baskets inside the paint, finishing the first quarter ahead 17-13.

In the second quarter, Olympiakos responded with fast-break points, taking a 36-32 lead into halftime.

However, Fenerbahçe came out strong in the third quarter, led by Wade Baldwin’s offensive burst, and reclaimed the advantage with a 10-0 run. Despite a flurry of baskets from Olympiakos’ Isaiah Wright, Fenerbahçe entered the final period up 57-56.

The Turkish side dominated the offensive rebounds throughout the game and sealed the win with an 8-0 run in the final quarter, extending their lead to 73-65 by the 36th minute. Fenerbahçe maintained control in the closing minutes, clinching the 82-71 victory.

Unfortunately, Fenerbahçe’s star guard Scottie Wilbekin was injured in the first quarter and did not return. The extent of his injury will be determined after further medical evaluation.

Notably, Fenerbahçe Football Team’s head coach, José Mourinho, was also in attendance for the game.
