Marko: “If Audi Doesn’t Take Him, Schumacher’s F1 Story Will End”

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko claimed that Sauber’s choice of Valtteri Bottas over Mick Schumacher for the 2025 Formula 1 season would be foolish.

Sauber continues to evaluate options for the last seat on the grid outside of Red Bull for next season, alongside Nico Hulkenberg. The Hinwil-based team is contemplating whether to bring in another experienced driver or a rookie alongside the seasoned German pilot.

However, Marko recommends that Sauber give Schumacher a chance, as the team will transition to Audi in 2026. Currently a reserve driver for Mercedes, Schumacher has not secured a seat since Haas opted to let him go at the end of his second term in 2022.

In a statement to , Marko said, “I don’t think Audi’s car will definitely be a winning car next year. This means there won’t be pressure on Audi or the drivers.”
