Galatasaray is set to play their first Europa League match of the season tonight against PAOK. Ahead of the game, PAOK made a post detailing the team’s journey to Istanbul, which has since drawn criticism.

The controversy arose from PAOK’s use of the phrase “The road to Constantinople!” in their post, which has offended some, as it refers to Istanbul by its historical name.
40 BUSES ARRIVE IN ISTANBUL
PAOK fans arrived in Turkey via the İpsala Border Gate in 40 buses ahead of tonight’s UEFA Europa League clash with Galatasaray. The fans were checked by customs and police officers, with Turkish law enforcement ensuring heavy security measures at the border.
After passing through the controls, the buses stopped briefly near the border before continuing to Istanbul under police escort. Edirne Deputy Governor and İpsala District Governor Ömer Sevgili personally oversaw the security measures taken during the crossing. The match between Galatasaray and PAOK will kick off at 22:00 local time at RAMS Park.
