Cristiano Ronaldo’s Late Strike Secures Portugal’s 2-1 Comeback Win Over Scotland

Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to give Portugal a dramatic win. And they secured their first point in Group A1 of the Nations League with a 2-1 victory over Scotland.

What happened?

Scotland took a surprise lead in the seventh minute through Scott McTominay’s header. Scotland’s only shot of the first half was on target. Portugal went into half-time 1-0 down but Ronaldo came on at Estadio da Luz.

His presence sparked Portugal’s second-half comeback, with former team-mate Bruno Fernandes equalising in the 54th minute. Ronaldo then scored the 900th goal of his career against Croatia. There were shouts of joy in the air. It was a mesmerising moment for Ronaldo.

A few days later, in the 88th minute, he touched Nuno Mendes’ centre for the 901st goal of his career and helped Portugal to two wins in two games.
