Jaime Jaquez Jr. addreses that decision about playing for either Team USA or Mexico NT is personal, and he still did not make it. He will talk about it with his family, but is now fully focused on obligations with Miami Heat.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. is a valuable piece of the Miami Heat once again, and whilst we know his future is safe on club level, Jaquez is yet to reveal which country he will represent in the international competitions
Jaime Jaquez Jr. is eligible to play for both Team USA and Mexico NT. In fact, Jaquez did play for Mexico at Pan-American Games as a 19-year old. But, he was also in USA’s Select Team this past summer before the Olympics.
“No, I have not made my decision,” Jaquez Jr. clarified. “You guys know me and my background. I was born in California, I grew up there, doing the USA Basketball camps.”
“Then, obviously, I played for Mexico during the Pan-American Games… After that, I stepped away from national teams, understanding how that pressure could build and how would the fans react going from USA to Mexico.”
It’s a decision that’s going to be personal to myself and what I feel, as well as my family. I consult them with almost everything I do. So when that time comes, I’ll be ready to make that decision. But right now, I’m just focused on Miami Heat,” Jaquez Jr. concluded.
