Lotte Wubben-Moy Avoids Social Media Comments as She Backs Body Positivity Campaign in Sport

Lionesses Star Lotte Wubben-Moy Reveals Why She Never Reads Social Media Comments as She Supports Body Positivity Campaign

Arsenal and England defender Lotte Wubben-Moy is backing a new campaign to promote body positivity in sport. The Lionesses star, who was part of England’s World Cup squad, is an ambassador for Gillette Venus’ ‘Move Your Skin: Re-write the Rules’ campaign. The initiative aims to normalize seeing real skin in sport and encourage more girls to participate.

In an interview with Forbes, Wubben-Moy explained why she avoids checking social media comments: “I never look at my comments, both good and bad. I think the moment you open the door to a good comment, you open the door to twenty bad comments, and those bad comments are often the ones that loom largest.”

The 25-year-old also discussed the challenges she’s faced as a woman in football, particularly the gendered expectations around the sport. “The main barrier I’ve come across throughout my life in football has been that it’s seen as a boy’s sport,” she said. “You look more masculine if you put shorts on, your legs are muscly, or your arms are muscly. Those were the challenges I had to overcome.”
