Nico Hulkenberg Optimistic About Haas’ Future Competitiveness in F1

Nico Hulkenberg believes Haas will become a “serious competitor” in Formula One over the next several years, as the American team makes major efforts to enhance its performance on the track.

The German driver, who is leaving Haas after two years to join Sauber/Audi, praised the team’s progress during his time there. Haas has made tremendous progress under the direction of former team boss Guenther Steiner and current CEO Ayao Komatsu, strengthening its constructors’ championship position in 2024 and overcoming previous difficulties like as tire wear during races.

Hulkenberg’s impressive qualifying efforts since returning as a full-time driver in 2023 have resulted in six points finishes, while colleagues Kevin Magnussen and stand-in driver Ollie Bearman have also scored points. Haas is now three points behind Red Bull in a tense race for sixth position in the constructors’ rankings.

Investment and Recruitment to Increase Performance

Team owner Gene Haas has demonstrated his dedication to the squad’s progress by sanctioning a recruiting drive to increase the team’s workforce by 10%. Furthermore, considerable expenditures have been allowed to upgrade the team’s UK headquarters in Banbury.

When questioned about Haas’ chances following his transfer to Sauber (which will become Audi in 2026), Hulkenberg voiced confidence in an interview with Autosport: “I think the team is set up very well now.” The upgrades in people, facilities, and overall strategy indicate that Haas is on course to compete more forcefully on the F1 grid in the future seasons, paving the way for a potential increase in performance as they strive for better positions.
