Arda Turan: “This is the saddest match since I joined Eyupspor”

Eyupspor Head Coach Arda Turan made a statement regarding the match they lost 2-1 against Konyaspor. Arda Turan said, “This may be the saddest match since I came to Eyupspor.”

In his statement on social media about the Konyaspor match, which he described as the saddest match since joining Eyupspor, Arda Turan said:

“First of all, I congratulate our referee friends. The people of Konya showed us great hospitality in the stadium. I also congratulate Ali Camdali and his team. They fought very well. They played another part of the game correctly and won. I wish Konyaspor success in the upcoming matches.”

“I am proud of my team and my players. We played one of our best games this year. This is the game we want to play. If we dive into the details of the game, we can be more aggressive in the third area, but we want to have possession of the ball this way. If we do not use final passes early and can have more possession, this is the game I want.”

“Eyupspor tries to play its best game in every stadium it goes to, everywhere it goes. Another point is that we are a new team in the league. Today, we played with 9 of our young players from last year in the starting 11. This shows how much we trust in our game and system and that we reflected this on the field. We are still making mistakes in not playing the moments correctly and in defending some things. We had shared with our players before the match that Konyaspor is effective in set pieces, with a 70% success rate; we had taken our precautions regarding this. Sometimes, correct analysis and hard work do not lead to playing the moments correctly. We will gain experience from such situations. The matches against Besiktas, Kayseri, and this match are experiences for us. Just like the biggest teams in the world play important matches, we played each moment and every minute of the game in the best way possible.”

“For this reason, I am proud of my players. Now we have entered the national break. No matter how well we play, losses should be a catastrophe for teams. Unfortunately, we will not be able to lift our heads until the Goztepe match, and we will live this sadness until the end. Honestly, I want to express that I am very sad about today’s result. This may be the saddest match since I joined Eyupspor.”

“We will play against Goztepe, who has often had the upper hand against us and plays a tough and dynamic game. I believe we will also have the same dynamism. We will spend the next 15 days living this sadness. We want to lift our heads and make our fans happy in the Goztepe match. I am happy with the game, but football is a game of score. We want to be at our best in the Goztepe match. What we need is our audience. We must be a whole together. If we can play the game we can play, I believe we will win the Goztepe match. I especially invite women and children to the match. I hope it will be a beautiful league match without swearing.”
